Chang, Ming QuanMing Quan Chang, born in Cho Lon in the south of Vietnam, (later called Saigon and then Ho Chi Minh City), came from a large family consisting of ten brothers and sisters. In between 1940 and 1975, the country was war-torn leaving Chang’s family no choice but to leave. She was 26 years old at the time when she had to flee to many countries including Thailand and the Philippines before finally coming to San Francisco. Considering herself lucky, she shares her brave story of her struggles being a refugee before finally becoming a citizen of the United States.
