Loni Ding’s 20-minute film Island of Secret Memories tells the story about a Chinese American schoolboy who visits Angel Island Immigration Station and learns about the experience of his grandfather’s stay there. We are proud to present a short video by filmmaker Jordan Fong recapping the highlights of the Grand Reopening of the Immigration Station on February 15, 2009. Once again, we thank all of you for coming out in such rough weather and we thank all the speakers, performers, and volunteers who made it such a s special day. In celebration of Asian Pacific American Heritage month, the Angel Island Immigration Station Foundation and the Angel Island State Park held a poetry reading at the historic U.S. Immigration Station, Angel Island on Sunday, May 17, 2009. Poems were read by Danita Rodriguez, Maria Sakovich, Greg Marutani, William Poy Lee, Charles Egan and Dr. Tom Peters.
