Notes: Sax was detained because he did not have additional ticket to his final destination of Detroit to a distant cousin, Charles Brown and upon interviewing him they discovered that he intended on staying in CA. Additional letter from Charles Brown suggest that Sax had been on relief while in Shanghai suggesting that he may become a public charge in the future since he only had $1.75. The case was closed and Sax was set for being deported in July 1940 but a letter from Charles Brown arrived stating that he was willing to post a public charge bond of $500 so Sax was temporarily released. After a year, Sax was able to prove that he had steady income of $15 a week and their bond was able to be cancelled in August 1942.
