Eddie Wong, AIISF Executive Director, will retire at the end of its fiscal year ending June 30, 2012. The Foundation plans to consider internal and external candidates to fill the executive director position and has hired CompassPoint Nonprofit Services to conduct the search. Former board member Kathy Owyang Turner has agreed to step in as interim Executive Director during the search.
“I have enjoyed working with our wonderful partners, the California State Parks, our hardworking staff and board, and the many volunteers who keep the Angel Island story alive,” said Mr. Wong. “We have accomplished much from the successful reopening of the Immigration Station in February 2009 to the completion of the Immigrant Heritage Wall in 2010 as we commemorated of the 100th anniversary of the Immigration Station."
"I want to thank Eddie for his accomplishments during the past four years," said Buck Gee, AIISF Board Chair. "Eddie has successfully led the Foundation in its efforts to reach a broad audience, uncover and raise the visibility of important Immigration Station stories, and develop Angel Island as the national symbol of 20th century Pacific immigration."
